Platycerium elephantotis

Stag’s horn / Elephant ear fern

Plants in this genus are curious epiphytic ferns, generally reminiscent of an elk’s horns due to the shape of their fronds. The species is distinguished from its congeners by its fertile fronds, which are not forked like a deer antler, but rather rounded with prominent veins. These are raised and turned outwards. Their large size means that these fronds are often compared to an elephant’s ear or a cabbage.
