Tradescantia pallida ‘Purple Heart’

Pale tradescantie, better known by its common name of purple misery, is prized for its decorative foliage. Its long purple stems are fleshy and bear hairy purple-purple leaves shaded with grey-green. Pinching the stems improves the plant’s structure. This plant has a rather spreading habit. The plant can reach 15 to 25 cm in height and 30 to 45 cm in spread. Pale tradescantie accepts almost any type of soil, provided it is well drained. It can be grown in sun or part-shade, but if it is in too much shade its purple coloring is attenuated.
