Colocasia esculenta ‘Black Beauty’

Introduced in 2006, this mutation of the edible colocase ‘Illustris’ has burgundy-black leaves, darker than these. The green veins of this beautiful root have also almost disappeared. This spectacular plant seems to have stepped straight out of Alice in Wonderland. It’s the kind of plant that speaks to the imagination: in just one season, you can create a spectacular scene with this star plant. Black Beauty’ can reach a height of 100 cm. Although this plant needs light, it performs well in shady situations.
