Alocasia heterophylla ‘Corazon’

Heterophyllous alocase ‘Corazon’ is a heterophyllous plant, meaning it has dissimilar leaves on the same plant. The leaves are a striking metallic blue-grey-green. The petiole is mottled like a snakeskin. This alocase, which is very similar to ‘Dragon’s Breath’, has rounder leaves. There are no undulations on the leaf.

This alocase can grow up to 45 cm tall. The selection’s name honors the Philippines’ first female president, Corazon Aquino (1933-2009). She was president from February 1986 to June 1992. Experts believe that this plant, which can be grown in the garden or indoors, is a separate species and not a cultivar derived from the species.
